Funds

Fundraising is a necessary part of any co-operative organization. We use the money we make from membership fees and fundraising firstly to pay our operating expenses - most notably rent of $10 per hall use, supplies (such as juice, coffee), charitable donations (such as the St. Margaret's Bay Food Bank's Christmas hamper program), and, of course, to buy new toys.

Membership fee

Annual family membership is $50.00.

Drop-in visitors are charged a small fee ($4.00) to help pay for coffee, tea and juice.

Fundraising

Sobey's tape collector program
Save your grocery tapes for Toy Library. For every $10,000 in Sobey's tapes we collect, Sobey's will donate $50 to Toy Library. Pass them along to Samantha when you get the chance.

Fundraising Citrus Sale
We purchase fruit from Halifax Citrus, the same organization that many years ago started this fundraiser with the Halifax Trojans Swim Team. We will make $7/case of fruit sold. The selling price is $36/case ($18/half). The number of oranges per case varies anywhere from 60-72, depending on size; grapefruit are from 30-36/cs., generally.

This type of fundraiser gives you a pretty good return for a relatively small investment of effort. We are charging a premium price for the fruit - more than the Superstore, but people realize that we do this as a fundraiser. We have no control over the quality of fruit that is delivered, but we do know that it is shipped directly to us, so it will be fresh. The grapefruit are always excellent - and the oranges tend to be very good.

Please give this fundraiser your best shot. Ask your friends, co-workers, neighbours, and family. Sell as much as you can!

Community Flea Market
It will be held at the Hall, rain or shine (we will set up inside, if the weather doesn't co-operate), on a Saturday, June 21th - set-up starting at 8:30, selling at 9:00. Tables are $10 each, but numbers are limited. Or, you can BYO table, and rent your space for $5.

The Toy Library will also run a concession stand, with snacks, cold drinks, and BBQued hot-dogs. We are asking for donations of canned pop, water, juice boxes, hot-dogs and buns, condiments, rice krispie squares, cookies, paper napkins, etc. - basically anything we can use for the concession table. If you can help out with any of these items, please let Jane know.

If you have some time to donate, we will need help setting up tables, collecting rentals, manning the concession stand, and cleaning up. A sign-up sheet will be available at Toy Library.

Father's Day gift basket
We are looking for donations for our Father's Day gift basket - something small (valued ~$5.00), that Dad would enjoy - such as a travel coffee mug, package of golf balls, ball cap - anything you like! We will put these together in a nice container, and ask you all to sell a few tickets. The basket will be drawn for at Toy Library on our closing day, Wednesday, June 13, 2007. It would be nice to have it on display at the Flea Market, so we can sell tickets on that day.
